Asahi Maruefu is a retro-style draft lager first introduced in 1986, one year before the launch of Asahi Super Dry. Designed to be mellow, smooth, and easy to drink, it quickly gained cult status in bars and izakayas across Japan. However, when Super Dry exploded in 1987, Maruefu was overshadowed and became known as a “phantom beer,” served quietly in select venues for decades.

In 2021, Asahi reintroduced Maruefu in can format, revitalising its legacy for a new generation. It delivers a gentle malt sweetness, low bitterness, and a soft, nostalgic mouthfeel—a total contrast to the sharpness of Super Dry.
